Located in several cellular components, including Z disc; cytosol; and mitochondrion. Part of calcineurin complex. Is active in Schaffer collateral - CA1 synapse and glutamatergic synapse. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; genitourinary system; gut gland; jaw; and thymus primordium. Used to study dilated cardiomyopathy.
