Thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP) family, ComE subfamily, TPP-binding module; composed of proteins similar to Methanococcus jannaschii sulfopyruvate decarboxylase beta subunit (ComE). M. jannaschii sulfopyruvate decarboxylase (ComDE) is a dodecamer of six alpha (D) subunits and six (E) beta subunits, which catalyzes the decarboxylation of sulfopyruvic acid to sulfoacetaldehyde in the coenzyme M pathway. ComDE requires TPP and divalent metal cation cofactors.
