    Summary
    Encodes a regulatory subunit of the mitochondrially-localized NAD+- dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase. In contrast to the broadly expressed other regulatory (IDH-I and IDH-II) and catalytic (IDH-V and IDH-VI) subunits of this enzyme, IDH-III expression appears to be restricted largely to pollen.

    What's a GeneRIF?
    1. Study has identified a unique bidirectional promoter capable of driving gene expression in Arabidopsis thaliana, and showed for the first time, that SERAT3;2 promoter is nested in the IDH-III promoter.

    2. Four of the IDH genes were expressed in all plant organs tested. One gene (At4g35650) was expressed mainly in the pollen. In leaves, the IDH genes were highly expressed in the veins, and to a lesser extent in mesophyll cells.
