Rhizosphere bacteria can not only produce but also metabolise and utilise phytohormones and their precursors as nutrients. P1Y was isolated from the rhizosphere of rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedlings. Rhodococcussp. P1Y possesses the ability to metabolize ABA, decrease its concentration in plants and modulate plant growth.
