show Abstracthide AbstractLack of genome structural- and functional-annotation significantly prevents researchers from exploiting the full potential of the chicken genome model system for comparative and functional genomic studies. Our objective is to make the chicken genome annotation much more comprehensive and useful for comparative and functional genomic studies by integrating experimental annotation with standardized gene symbols and functional annotation to make all of this information easily accessible to the biomedical research community. Transcriptomic (mRNA- and small-RNAseq), proteomic and proteogenomic mapping data were combined for the purpose of experimental annotation.
