Design: To support chromosome assembly, A reference genome assembly was developed for A. hypogaea var. Shitouqi (zh.h0235, a well-known Chinese cultivar and breeding parent belonging to subspecies fastigiata; botanical type vulgaris and agronomic type Spanish with heterozygosity only 1/6537 nucleotides on average) using a hierarchical approach. Firstly, assembly of 100X single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequences15 yielded contigs totaling 2.54 Gb, 94% of estimated peanut genome size1, with N50 of 1.51 Mb.

Arachis hypogaea is an important crop cultivated globally especially in Asia and Africa. Unfortunately, the whole genome sequence of fine structure has not yet disclosed which greatly retards genetic enhancement. Here we released a high-quality peanut genome sequence and chromosome with fine structure after first reported on December 24, 2017 in Peanut Genome Resource database (PGR,, or ) on Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU) official website.
