The assembled diploid genome sequence of a single human individual, Dr. Craig J. Venter, was generated using DNA isolated from sperm and white blood cells. In contrast, the Celera and public reference sequence assemblies are mosaics with sequence data originating from several individuals. This WGS assembly, named HuRef, represents a composite haploid version of the genome where the highest scoring major allele contained is represented in the HuRef consensus sequence. The WGS sequence is available in accession ABBA00000000. The lower scoring minor allele is represented in the HuRefprime assembly with accession ABSL00000000.

The HuRef browser available at http://huref.jcvi.org depicts the haploid sequence with SNP and insertion/deletion DNA variants as identified by genome assembly and comparison methods.
