Figure 7 displays a forest plot of the standardized mean difference (SMD) of suicidal ideation in adult psychotherapy trials (k=8), stratified by type of psychotherapy. The overall SMD was −0.10 (95% CI, −0.27 to 0.06). For cognitive behavior therapy trials (k=2), the SMD was −0.10 (95% CI, −0.78 to 0.58). For problem-solving therapy trials (k=3), the SMD was −0.17 (95% CI, −0.34 to 0.01). For dialectical behavior therapy trials (k=1), the SMD was 0.18 (95% CI, −0.24 to 0.60). For psychodynamic/interpersonal therapy trials (k=1), the SMD was −0.46 (95% CI, −0.87 to −0.06). For other nondirect therapy trials (k=1), the SMD was 0.15 (95% CI, −0.41 to 0.72).
