Abstract

Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the colon and rectum is rare. It presents clinically as other types of colorectal cancer and the treatment is primarily surgery. The pathogenesis is unclear, but several hypotheses have been suggested, including human papilloma virus infection. Gynaecological cancer is an important differential diagnosis in females with involvement of the genital organs.
