The aetiology and clinical appearance of tooth wear

Eur J Prosthodont Restor Dent. 1997 Dec;5(4):157-60.

Abstract

This paper highlights the importance of recognising that tooth wear has invariably a multifactorial aetiology, although the clinical appearance may suggest a single contributory factor. Failure to do so may lead to continued loss of tooth tissue and ultimate failure in restorative care. The possible aetiological factors are highlighted and suggestions as to the cause of the increasing problem are discussed.
