Abstract

The incidence of skin cancer has increased over the last 30 years. Although the role of ultraviolet radiation in human skin carcinogenesis has been supported by a wealth of epidemiological data, the mechanisms by which it leads to skin cancer are still poorly understood. This article reviews recent developments in understanding of the epidemiology and molecular biology of skin carcinogenesis.
