[Does breast cancer grow slower in elderly patients?].

[Article in Russian]

Retrospective analysis of repeated mammograms (2-4) was undertaken to establish actual tumor doubling time (DT) in 109 patients with breast tumors. Potential DT was determined on the basis of the proliferative activity of tumor cells evaluation using thymidine label technique. A direct correlation between age and morbidity was found for both fast--(DT < 35 days) and slow-growing (DT > or = 110 days) tumors.
