Abstract

PIP: A team of psychiatrists agreed to participate in a sex education project carried out in several schools for secondary education in France. The team met regularly not only with students, but with parents and teachers. The encounters brought to life the difficulties experienced by adults when confronted with adolescents sexuality, and gave everybody, including the students, a better understanding of the climate of violence often to be found in schools. Questions more often asked by the students went from the very general (what is sexuality?) to the very specific (where are the testicles?), and touched upon subjects as pregnancy and delivery, contraception and abortion, homosexuality and incest. It was hoped that many other such encounters would be organized in other schools.
