Congenital facial anomalies among 4- through 7-year-olds: psychological effects and surgical decisions.

Abstract

In children with congenital facial anomalies, body image and emotional indicators correlated with the timing and number of operations, rather than with the severity of the deformity. These data suggest that surgery should be performed at the earliest age possible and in the fewest number of stages.
