Mushroom madness. Psychoactive fungi and the risk of fatal poisoning.

Abstract

Despite its illegality, mushroom use as a hallucinogen is widespread. The reported toxicity of hallucinogenic mushrooms ranges from significant to relatively harmless. The greatest danger lies in the potential for mistaking a highly poisonous variety that contains cyclopeptides for the relatively innocuous hallucinogenic varieties.
