Abstract

Background: Insomnia is a common condition affecting individuals of various ages that can be addressed using a range of validated treatments.

Objective: The aim of this review is to outline current treatment approaches for insomnia disorder.

Discussion: Current guidelines suggest cognitive behavioural therapy is the first-line treatment for insomnia. This may be complemented with short-term pharmacological intervention.
