Abstract

Palliative care, often mistaken for hospice care, improves patients' quality of life via symptom management of life-limiting illnesses. A community hospital began a palliative care team. Along with Nursing Education, this team educated a group of nurses to implement treatment modalities and offered ongoing education to prepare nurses to become certified in palliative and hospice nursing.
