[Remote results of biliopancreatic shunting operation in a Hess-Marceau modification: recurrence or stabilization].

The experience of performance of biliopancreatic shunting operation in a Hess-Marceau modification, performed for obesity in 237 patients, owing 16 - 63 years old and body mass index (BMI) at average (47.3 +/- 7.0) kg/m2, was summarized. There was established, that the operation constitutes a highly effective and sufficiently secure method of surgical treatment of severe forms of obesity, guaranteeing reduction of the body mass extras and effective treatment of accompanied to obesity diseases as well. It is indicated as a method of choice in accompanied atherogenic dyslipidemia and in patients, suffering diabetes mellitus type II.
