Abstract

Dyspepsia, a chronic condition, requires a good differentiation between functional disorders of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum and organic illnesses. Some organic conditions may progress to more severe diseases like gastric cancer, so the follow-up of dyspepsia is mandatory. We created a database to be used as a registry for dyspepsia. We used a computer-assisted data base first written in a particular soft, next transferred into Excel. This allows the assessment of prevalence and incidence of dyspepsia in this area, having an important public health effect given the high prevalence of this condition. It also allows the carrying out of prospective studies and thus we will be able to monitor the evolution of patients with dyspepsia.
