Blood group antigens Lewisy and Lewisx are glycoproteins found to be expressed in a number of adenocarcinomas of diverse origin (1-4). The monoclonal antibody (mAb) B3 was directed against a carbohydrate epitope found on Lewisy and Lewisx antigens (5). 111In-Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid-2-(p-isothiocyanatobenzyl)-6-methyl-B3 mAb (111In-DTPA-1B4M-B3) has been studied for use in imaging Lewisy and Lewisx antigen expression in nude mice bearing human cancer xenografts (6) and in cancer patients (7).
