Objective: To study the chemical constituents from n-BuOH fraction of the stems of Periploca forrestii.
Method: The compounds were separated and purified by various chromatographic techniques and recrystallisation. The physico-chemical properties and spectral data were applied to identify structure of these compounds.
Result: Six glycosides were isolated and identified as emodin-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), physcion-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-galactopyranoside (3), kaempferol-3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranoside (4), quercetin-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (5), quercetin-3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranoside (6).
Conclusion: These six compounds were obtained for the first time from this plant.
