The clinical feature Semitranslucency, defined as a semiliquid or jellylike appearance, is a useful optical phenomenon for the identification of basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Semitranslucent areas in dermoscopic images of BCC also display the smooth, jellylike appearance of the clinical counterpart.
