Analysis of chimerism in the dentate gyrus. LacZ staining of the dentate gyrus was performed in series (n = 60) of different control and mitochondrial late-onset neurodegeneration chimeras. The sections are ordered according to increasing mean levels of chimerism (proportion of Tfamlox alleles) in cerebellum as follows (starting at the top from left to right): row 1, 0–6%; row 2, 7–19%; row 3, 21–27%; row 4, 32–39%; row 5, 40–49%; row 6, 51–58%; row 7, 62–68%; row 8, 71–79%; row 9, 82–89%; row 10, 91–100%.
