Spermatophore web formation in a pseudoscorpion

Abstract

The male pseudoscorpion Serianus sp. n. deposits spermatophores without mating, but only when females are present. It marks a path to the spermatophore with silken threads produced in an endodermal gland, which is homologous to the rectal pocket in males and females of other species and in the female of the same species.
