Curr Opin Anaesthesiol. 2001 Dec;14(6):643-7. doi: 10.1097/00001503-200112000-00008.

In this article, relevant recent publications are summarized with a view to identifying the reasons for the current situation. Several developments which might promote the wider use of such systems in the near future are also presented.
