Abstract

Studies of erythron reaction in prolonged hemorrhages have shown that the index of erythro- and normoblast maturation is reduced in such patients, this evidencing impaired proliferation and differentiation of the erythron system cells. Red cells distribution in the peripheral blood during interferometry has demonstrated that the level of solid matter in patients' red cells is essentially reduced and correlates with the severity of anemia. These data may be valuable when assessing the severity of the erythron system impairment and its recovery due to therapy.
