Abstract

Technological and material advancements in contemporary adhesive protocols have resulted in the development of several generations of bonding agents. Acid-etching procedures coupled with restorative materials that demonstrate improved aesthetics, bond strength, and durability have led to increased interest in the use of multi-component, single-component, and self-etching adhesives for everyday protocols. Micromechanical retention has significantly evolved into a more predictable science through the incorporation of various dentin bonding agents. This article reviews current literature and discusses current concepts on routine adhesion during placement of indirectly fabricated restorations.
