Distribution of human papillomavirus 16 in the blood of women with uterine cervix carcinoma

Eur J Gynaecol Oncol. 1992;13(6):522-6.

Abstract

In the present study HPV 16 DNA was discovered in the cervical cancer tissue and in blood of women with cancer. In the blood of patients with advanced cancer the HPV appeared in granulocytes and was anchored to the lymphocytic membrane. It may be therefore concluded that the presence of HPV 16 DNA in the blood of women with cervical cancer reduced immunocompetence.
