New vitamin B-12 gel, instead of injection

Abstract

AIDS: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Nascobal, a gel formulation of Vitamin B-12 that is pumped inside the nose. The drug costs about $60 for 8 treatments and is used to prevent or reverse nerve damage and prevent memory problems and dementia. Johns Hopkins uses the drug as standard treatment for HIV cognitive dysfunction.
