Abstract

Learn how to set up an outpatient program for deep venous thrombosis. Although many therapies can be provided more cheaply on an outpatient basis, physicians often fear abandoning hospital care will put their patients at risk. In an innovative program, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Boston was able to shift treatment of its cases for deep venous thrombosis to a clinic-based program, reducing overall costs by 32%. The secret, it says, was building a reliable infrastructure to assure superior patient follow up.
