Abstract

The organicity of mild head injury and the postconcussion syndrome are becoming increasingly well documented by neuropsychologic and neuroradiologic studies. The evidence suggests that most plaintiffs are not cure by a verdict. They have cognitive and somatic symptoms, improving with time. Unfortunately for some patients, despite objective recovery, postconcussional complaints persist. Emotional symptoms may have become prominent with time. The real goal in management is to prevent the development of persistent postcommotionnal symptoms by interventions that reduce anxiety, vertigo and headache.
