PHA3092   semaphorin-like protein

semaphorin-like protein; semaphorins are a large family of secreted and transmembrane proteins containing a Sema domain which is characterised by a conserved set of cysteine residues, which form four disulphide bonds to stabilise the structure; The poxviridae are enveloped unsegmented dsDNA viruses; unlike many dsDNA viruses that replicate in the host nucleus poxviruses encode their own replication machinery and therefore replicate in the cytoplasm; viral genes are expressed in a bi-phasic manner with early genes genes encoding non-structural proteins involved in genome replication and late genes encoding the viral structural proteins
