Lineage: Eukaryota; Viridiplantae; Streptophyta; Embryophyta; Tracheophyta; Spermatophyta; Magnoliophyta; eudicotyledons; Gunneridae; Pentapetalae; rosids; fabids; Malpighiales; Passifloraceae; Turnera; Turnera subulata x Turnera krapovickasii
Turnera subulata exhibits distyly, a genetic polymorphism whereby the two floral morphs have reciprocal arrangements of styles and stamens in a population. In addition to the floral polymorphism these plants possess an incompatibility system; both are controlled by a single diallelic locus initially described in 1905. A genetic map was the first step to identify the gene(s) at the S locus. Detailed information is available in the BioProject database.
