Hyperplasia

An abnormal increase in the number of cells in an organ or a tissue with consequent enlargement. [from NCI]

MedGen UID:

2.

Neoplasm

A benign or malignant tissue growth resulting from uncontrolled cell proliferation. Benign neoplastic cells resemble normal cells without exhibiting significant cytologic atypia, while malignant cells exhibit overt signs such as dysplastic features, atypical mitotic figures, necrosis, nuclear pleomorphism, and anaplasia. Representative examples of benign neoplasms include papillomas, cystadenomas, and lipomas; malignant neoplasms include carcinomas, sarcomas, lymphomas, and leukemias. [from NCI]

Papillary Urothelial Hyperplasia

A type of hyperplasia that is characterized by variable thickening of the urinary tract epithelium and a slight papillary growth. The latter is not associated with the presence of fibrovascular cores. There is no evidence of atypia. The relationship between this lesion and papillary urothelial neoplasia is not clear. -- 2003 [from NCI]

Hyperplasia of the transitional epithelium of the urinary tract. Morphologically it is subdivided into flat and papillary hyperplasia. -- 2003 [from NCI]
