Rat Genome Overview

Information about the continuing improvement of the rat genome

This assembly was generated by the Darwin Tree of Life Project at the Wellcome Sanger Institute . The GRC, including the Rat Genome Database (RGD), are now working to curate the rat reference genome assembly.

Transitioning to mRatBN7.2? Try the NCBI Remapping Service, which uses the same assembly-assembly alignments used by the GRC.

Next assembly update

mRatBN7.2 (GCA_015227675.1) has superseded Rnor_6.0 (GCA_000001895.4). See the Release Notes below for additional details.

mRatBN7.2

  • Release date: November 4, 2020
  • Release type: major
  • Release notes: This assembly was released by Sanger Institute, the Vertebrate Genome Project and the Darwin Tree of Life Project. The GRC, including RGD, are now working to curate the rat reference genome assembly. This version changed the accession of the mitochondrial chromosome but did not change any sequence, so it is identical sequence-wise to the mRatBN7.1 (GCA_015227675.1) assembly.
  • Assembly accessions: GenBank: GCA_015227675.2 , RefSeq: GCF_015227675.2
