The cells were grown in DMEM supplied with 1% L-Glutamine and Penicillin/ Streptomycin and 20% FBS and kept at 37°C and 5% CO2.

Total RNA from 4 independent experiments was isolated from cells irradiated with 2.0 Gy and the respective controls 2 h after irradiation using Pure Link RNA mini kit (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA, USA) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
