Three colorectal tumors and their paired non-adjacent normal colonic mucosa were used in this analysis. Samples were obtained from the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge (Barcelona, Spain) following a protocol approved by the Ethics Committee. Human colon cancer cell lines were obtained from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC, Manassas, VA), except DKO, generously provided by B. Vogelstein. All cell lines were grown in DMEM:F12 medium plus 10% heat-inactivated FBS, L-glutamine and pyruvate (Invitrogen)
