Growth protocol Seeds were planted in Sunshine Mix #1 (Sun Gro, Canada) and maintained in a plant growth chamber with an average day/night temperature of 23/20°C, 14 h of light (12,000 LUX), and a relative humidity of 60% for 10 days. When plants reached the third leaf stage, the whole seedling including leaf and roots were harvested for RNA isolation.

Extraction protocol Total RNA was isolated from seedlings using TRIzol reagent (Invitrogen, USA), according to the manufacturer’s protocol.
