Title |
Global transcriptome analysis of colonic tissue during Clostridioides difficile infection |
Organism |
Mus musculus |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
Clostridioides difficile can cause severe infections in the gastrointestinal tract and affects almost half a million people in the U.S every year. Upon establishment of infection, a strong immune response is induced. We sought to investigate the dynamics of the mucosal host response during C. difficile infection.

Overall design |
C57BL/6 WT mice were pretreated with a cocktail of antibiotics and then were infected with C. difficile VPI 10463 in brucella broth through orogastric gavage. Uninfected mice were administered brucella broth without the inoculum. Colonic tissue samples were collected at day post infection 0, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 to investigate the whole transcriptome differential gene expression during infection during the acute and recovery phases.
