Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary
Analysis of the effects of deafening on gene expression in birdsong neural circuitry
Overall design
18 Bengalese finch (Lonchura striata domestica) adult males were either deafened by bilateral cochlea removal (9 birds) or underwent a sham surgery (9 birds). Birds were allowed to survive for 4, 9, or 14 days post-procedure (3 hearing and 3 deaf birds for each time point) before euthanasia.
