Summary We examined the role of the RNA polymerase binding factor CarD on gene expression throughout the Mycobacterium tuberculosis genome. We performed RNA-seq on a panel of M. tuberculosis strains with point mutations in CarD that either enhance or disrupt its ability to stabilize RNA polymerase-promoter DNA open complexes in vitro.
