Poecilia formosa, the Amazon molly, is a freshwater fish that reproduces through gynogenesis, which gives rise to clonal, all-female populations; the species is named in reference to the Amazon warriors of Greek mythology. The Amazon molly is native to northeastern Mexico and the extreme south of Texas in the United States.
