Teredinibacter turnerae overview

Lineage: Bacteria[13217]; Proteobacteria[4123]; Gammaproteobacteria[1647]; Cellvibrionales[47]; Cellvibrionaceae[14]; Teredinibacter[2]; Teredinibacter turnerae[1]
Teredinibacter turnerae. This species was isolated from the gills of the wood-boring mollusc, Lyrodus pedicellatus. This organism is a rare example of a marine invertebrate symbiont that has been grown in pure culture. They have the unique ability to be able to both utilize cellulose as a sole carbon source and also to fix nitrogen. More...
