Mycobacterium microti. This bacterium is a causative agent of tuberculosis in rodents and cattle. It has also infected humans, but is not a major source of human disease as are other members of the Mycobacterium genus. Interestingly, the best vaccines for human tubercuolsis to date have been derived from live Mycobacterium microti cultures.
