    What's a GeneRIF?
    1. In this study, the authors performed the first phylogenetic classification of shochu strains using the nucleotide sequences of genes that reflect genome-level phylogeny. The single-nucleotide polymorphisms information identified in the present study is expected to be useful for distinguishing shochu yeast strains as part of quality control at shochu breweries.

    2. The opposite effects of overexpressed Pxl1p on cdc42 and rho1 mutants suggest that the functions of Cdc42p and Rho1p may be coordinately regulated during budding and that Pxl1p may be involved in this coordination.
