Involved in endonucleolytic cleavage in ITS1 to separate SSU-rRNA from 5.8S rRNA and LSU-rRNA from tricistronic rRNA transcript (SSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, LSU-rRNA) and poly(A)+ mRNA export from nucleus. Located in cytoplasm and nucleolus. Part of 90S preribosome and preribosome, small subunit precursor. Orthologous to human BYSL (bystin like). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2022]
