  • P4 is a hexameric packaging NTPase which belongs to the DnaB-like family. Though there is no sequence similarity, the NTP binding domain bears striking structural similarity to RecA/F1-ATPase-like motors. 12 hexamers of P4 are found at the 5-fold vertices of the procapsid and use ATP hydrolysis to actively transport L, M and S segments into the procapsid. RNA segments are packaged in order.
