Summary
Slt cleaves the glycosidic bonds between the N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine residues in murein. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG10950]. Slt70 is involved in growth and recycling of peptidoglycan by catalyzing the lysis of the -1,4 glycosidic bond between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine, producing 1,6-anhydromuropeptides at an optimal pH of 4.5 with a Km of 200 mg/L . [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG10950].
