Summary
gntX does not have a role in gluconate metabolism (Personal communication, T.Conway, personal communication, 2000). gntX is predicted to have a CRP-S promoter co-regulated by both Crp and Sxy (Cameron, 2006). The yhgH gene product is required for utilization of DNA as the sole source of carbon and energy; yhgH is homologous to genes involved in natural competence and genetic transformation in other bacteria .
