Summary
GlnB is the archetypal PII protein; a ubiquitous family of small trimeric signal transduction proteins that facilitate regulation of bacterial nitrogen metabolism by controlling the activities of a variety of enzymes, transcription factors and membrane proteins. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG10384]. The protein PII plays a critical role in the regulation of nitrogen metabolism by controlling the level and activity of glutamine synthetase. [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG10384].
